Electronic components are getting smaller, and researchers immediately dream about smart micro-robots, flying artificial insects, walking devices. Very small motors, batteries, and mechanical parts are difficult to get; this makes the path towards functioning micro-robots very hard. In most cases, researchers and students have to work with significantly larger prototypes, or just write one more simulation program and 3D animations.
